Although Sarah was raised in Northern California, she discovered her passion for rangeland management as a student at the University of Nevada, Reno. Sarah is particularly driven to work in the sagebrush steppe and has a “deep love for these ecosystems and how the future of these ranges affects landowners and managers”, she says. “My heart is at its fullest when I am working in these remote landscapes with the people and animals that inhabit them.”
Sarah credits her ability to pursue career development opportunities to the support she received from the Rustici scholarship. “I thank Mr. Rustici for the opportunities that have been put before me through my university education, including a number of internships, professional conferences, and industry connections. As I graduate this December 2019, I know that I will be leaving school debt-free with the skills that I need to begin my career as a rangeland professional”.
